300kg/h Plantain Chip Production Line Successfully Installed in Ethiopia.
In July 2025, the technical team from Baixin Machinery's Overseas Engineering Department went to the project site in Ethiopia and, after 10 days of rigorous construction and system debugging , successfully delivered a 300kg/h plantain chip processing production line . Currently, the entire production line is operating stably, the product quality has met the expected standards, and it has officially entered the production stage .
I. Project Overview
Based on the Iraqi customer's large-scale production needs, actual factory conditions, and local energy supply characteristics, Baixin Machinery conducted a comprehensive localized design for the equipment configuration, process flow, and site layout of the 1.5t/h fully automatic quick-frozen French fries production line. II.Raw Material Selection and Finished Product Standards
To ensure the consistent quality of plantain chip products, the production line has clear standards for both raw material selection and finished product quality.
- Selection Criteria for plantainRaw Materials
During the production process, the quality of the raw plantains directly affects the taste and appearance of the final product. It is generally recommended to select green plantains that meet the following conditions as raw materials:
Shape: Long and uniform in size, which facilitates subsequent slicing and processing.
Ripeness: It is recommended to have the fruit at 50%–70% ripeness (leaning towards green). At this stage, the flesh is firm and more likely to develop a crispy texture after frying.
Appearance: Smooth surface, free of mold and obvious black spots.
Firmness: Green plantains with firmer flesh can be sliced intact without easily breaking.

- Finished Product Quality Requirements
Appearance: Golden in color, intact in shape, with no obvious signs of scorching.
Texture: Crispy, not greasy, and without any bitterness.
Oil content: approximately 20%.
Slice thickness: approximately 1.5–2.0 mm, ensuring good texture and crispness.
Flavor: Evenly seasoned, with no rancid oil taste.

Based on the aforementioned raw material and product standards, this 300kg/h plantain chip processing production line ensures efficient processing and stable product quality through stable equipment configuration and continuous production technology.
III. Configuration Introduction of a 300kg/h plantain Chip Production Line
This 300kg/h plantain chip processing production line adopts a continuous production process design, with each process closely linked and operating stably. Based on the actual production flow, the main processes of the entire line are as follows:
- Sorting and cleaning
Fresh green plantains first enter the sorting station, where operators screen them and remove the ends to eliminate any unsuitable materials. The plantains then enter the washing equipment, where they are rinsed with water to remove surface dirt and impurities, ensuring the raw materials are clean.
- Blanching and water cooling
After washing, the plantains undergo a short heat treatment in a blanching device to soften the peel, making it easier to peel and inhibiting enzyme activity, thus preserving the product's color. The blanched plantains then enter a water-cooling system for rapid cooling, creating favorable operating conditions for the subsequent peeling process.
- Peeling and slicing
After cooling, the plantains are fed to a manual peeling station where workers remove the peel, leaving the flesh intact. The peeled plantains then pass through a conveyor belt into a plantain slicer, which slices them evenly into uniformly thick slices, ensuring even heating during frying.
- Continuous frying and deoiling
Next, the plantain chips are processed in a continuous fryer. The equipment uses an automatic temperature control system to stably control the oil temperature, frying the plantain chips at around 160-180°C for 3-5 minutes to achieve a golden and crispy texture. After frying, the plantain chips pass through an oil removal device to remove excess oil, thereby improving the taste and reducing oil consumption.
- Seasoning and Packing
After the oil is removed, the plantain chips are conveyed into the flavoring system, where different flavorings are added according to customer needs to enrich the product's taste. Finally, the product enters the packaging stage for quantitative packaging, facilitating storage, transportation, and sales.
The entire production line is made of food-grade stainless steel, with a reasonable structure and stable operation, and can meet the customer's continuous production needs of 300kg/h.
IV.Installation Site
Throughout the project implementation, Baixin Machinery's technical engineers provided on-site installation guidance at the customer's factory in Ethiopia. They quickly completed equipment placement, installation, and electrical connections, and conducted system debugging of key equipment.
With close cooperation between the two teams, the entire production line successfully completed equipment installation, individual machine debugging, and integrated trial operation. During the trial production, all processes ran smoothly, from raw material processing to frying, oil removal, seasoning, and packaging, with a continuous and stable production flow. The plantain chips produced on-site were golden in color and crispy in texture, and the product quality met the expected standards.

V. After-sales support
To ensure the project's smooth commissioning and long-term stable operation, Baixin Machinery provides customers with comprehensive technical support services.
- After installation and commissioning, the technicians provided systematic training to the customer's operation team, including equipment operation procedures, daily maintenance, and production process control.
- In addition, the company has established a remote technical support service system, which can provide customers with timely technical consultation and maintenance guidance to ensure the long-term stable operation of the production line.
